  • Prepare for the Lord of the Flies Reading Test:
    Although some of you may have already completed this, as the novel was provided three weeks before the break, ensure you have finished reading Lord of the Flies. Use the provided questions and jot notes section in the package to help prepare for the reading test.

  • Review Speeches and Rhetorical Devices:
    Use the speeches handout to review devices discussed during our lessons on speeches, including rhetorical questions, anaphora, and various appeals (ethos, logos, pathos, etc.).

  • Upcoming Retest on Literary Devices:
    A literary devices retest will take place on Tuesday upon your return. Review all terms, including but not limited to those from our lessons on Caesar (Freytag's Pyramid, tragic hero, turning point, hamartia, tragic flaw, hubris, etc.) and lessons on speeches (rhetorical devices, appeals, etc.). Be sure to also review the wider literary devices handout provided at the beginning of the year. The last test results could have been much better.

Finals:
Begin your review of the course material in preparation for the final exam.

Access Materials:
All materials are available at the top of the blog under your course code.

  • Read Cue for Treason:
    You will have a reading test on the Tuesday back from break. This will be used to check your understanding of longer texts. 

  • Complete Outstanding Assignments:
    Ensure your trailers are completed and submitted if you have not already done so. Additionally, some of you have yet to submit the culminating essay we worked on before the break. An alternate assignment will be provided for you to complete in SST if it remains unfinished.

  • Prepare for the Final Exam:
    Begin reviewing for your final exam, focusing specifically on literary terms. You will receive a review sheet closer to the exam to help narrow your scope, but you are responsible for all course content.
